The non-negotiables

Ceiling height is the constraint most people underestimate. You need at least 9 feet of clear height above the mat — measured at the point where you’ll be standing, not just at the peak of the room. Angled ceilings, beams, and ductwork all count against you.

Room depth determines how far you stand from the screen. A minimum of 15 feet gives you a safe hitting zone with the standard impact screen. At 18 feet or more you can position the golfer further back for a more natural swing feel.

Room width affects both the enclosure size and whether left- and right-handed players can share the space comfortably.
